The 519’s Kids Action and Arts Space (KAAS) is a free, drop-in program that offers kids who are 6 to 9 years old a fun place to connect, meet friends and new peers. KAAS meets the first and third Saturday of each month, from 10 am to 12 pm.
The 519 is collaborating with community artists and educators to facilitate arts and movement-based activities for two-spirit, queer, trans, and non-binary kids, as well as the kids of queer and trans families.
We are utilizing storytelling and connections to the body through arts, dance, music, and movement-based activities. Our goals for 2019 is to ensure we’re creating spaces for all folks within LGBTQ2S communities and that we are prioritizing QTIBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Intersex, Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) voices in programming.
Collectively, we strive to create a safer, supportive and inspiring space where everyone – from facilitators to participants – can bring their full selves into the space, feel celebrated and continue to develop and strengthen their skills in self-expression.
